The Asian sub-continent may be a global hotspot for this kind of work, but the animation industry in Thailand is in the early stages of its evolution. The size of the industry is small compared to other Asian players such as South Korea, Japan, or Singapure. However, future growth looks likely, since the cost of labour in Thailand is one of the lowest in the world.

The government is currently promoting animation as well as the ICT (Information and Communications Technology) industry. However, since the market is only beginning to evolve, there is only a limited pool of skilled and semi-skilled artists and technicians. Moreover, the industry currently has other disadvantages, such as its relatively high costs in comparison to neighboring competitors like China, India and Vietnam.

The industry could progress by tapping consumer demand in the emerging entertainment and education markets in the Asian region. And it could also strive towards forging partnerships with Indian and Chinese animation studios, as well as established North American, Japanese and European players.
