Animated October at Roxy/NoD

The team of the experimental space Roxy/NoD have prepared a really interesting series of projections of short animated films for this month. You can see the best of animated production from all around the world presented by Prague's chapter of the world-wide computer graphics association SIGGRAPH taking place at Bio-NoD every Tuesday in October. Come and see the current animation trends.
This film show actually started at the end of September with the overview of the awarded pieces at this year'sf AniFest festival, what took place in T?ebo? during May 2006.
SPAFi: Launched

PRAGUE – On Tuesday, September 19th, SPAFi – The society for computer animation and film, was launched. SPAFi invited people across the CG community to its first meeting in Prague. The event, which included a presentation by SPAFi , an artworks exhibition and an animation show, took place at the Cross Club - a very nice industrial looking club. Later on the evening turned into a party.
This event was the starting point for the association's activities and showed
the way SPAFi wants to be involved within the CG community in Central Europe. The mission of SPAFi is to unite people across the whole industry of computer animation and film, to give them a platform for networking, exchanging knowledge as well as experience.

Holography "father" - Dennis Gabor's 106th anniversary

In the last days we commemorated the 106th anniversay of Dennis Gabor. He received the Nobel Prize in physics 1971 for his invention and development of the holographic method.
Dennis Gabor (Gábor Dénes) (5th June, 1900, Budapest - 9th February, 1979, London) was a Hungarian physicist who is most notable for inventing holography.
