The Italian animation industry has witnessed steady growth over the past few years, and this continues today. Thanks to the support of the government through state broadcaster RAI. This support includes flexible funding initiatives and a solid infrastructure, as well as help with distribution.

Italian animation studios have played a part in the development of many national and international animated series, such as Lupo Alberto, Corto Maltese, Cocco Bill and Stefi; and animated feature films such as Lo Gabbianella e iI Gatto and Johan Padan. Many of these are created in collaboration with other continental European studios.
