VIA announcing changes to keep up.

VIA Technologies announced a large corporate restructuring. To maintain its position in chip-market after latest big shifts like corporate merging of AMD and ATI, and Nvidia’s continuing success in cooperation with Intel, VIA has decided to transfer existing business units into three core divisions.

Three new divisions – CPU Platform, System Platform and MCE (Multimedia Consumer Electronics) – should help strengthen company’s efficiency and competitiveness. Wen-chi Chen will remain as the company’s president and CEO and become the general manager of the CPU Platform group focused to processors, while two current senior VPs will be selected to head the remaining two divisions responsible for a core logic chipsets, and VIA’s multimedia processors.
